Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the formal release, "A mysterious meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations echo through the obscurity." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The questline centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Material
Players who accomplish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This release also brings the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
